The Fall Lecture Series theme is about exploring the cultures of Latin America through the eyes of those committed to developing knowledge, understanding and support for the people south of our borders through outreach, education, volunteerism and philanthropy.
We hope members will join us for lunch at the cafeteria for continued discussions with our speakers.
October 29: Carlos Eire, PhD, Professor, T. Lawrason Riggs Professor of History and Religious Studies at Yale. Dr. Eire will discuss his life as a child in Cuba during the Castro takeover resulting in his being sent to Miami via the Pedro Pan Project with thousands of Cuban children, to be taken in by foster families, and his amazing life’s journey. He received the National Book Award for his work “Waiting for Snow in Havana” which was followed by “Learning to Die in Miami”
The fee for the Fall Series is $65, and members who wish to bring a guest to a specific lecture will pay an additional fee of $10.
